Press Release from the Bloomfield Township Police Department:
This morning the Bloomfield Township Police Department was notified of an incident of
Stranger Danger involving a suspicious person in our community. On March 5, 2024, a student was walking home from their bus stop in the area of Spruce Drive and Woodbank Drive when they were approached by a silver or gray car. The driver of the vehicle pulled up next to the student and rolled down the driver window. The driver stuck his arm out the window toward the student. In the driver’s hand was his cell phone. The driver did not speak to the student. The vehicle left on Woodbank toward Maple Road as the student ran to their home.
The driver is described as a Hispanic male in his 20’s or 30’s with a black moustache, wearing a hood covering his head. The silver or gray vehicle is believed to be a Honda Civic, Accord, or similar in style bearing a white Michigan license plate with blue letters.
The Bloomfield Township Police Department applauds this student for being diligent of their surroundings and notifying a trusted adult of the situation. We remind our community to stay vigilant of their surroundings. Do not engage anyone that approaches you or your children inappropriately, and immediately call 911. We ask parents to remind their children about stranger danger, and contacting a trusted adult when something does not feel right.
This is an ongoing investigation, anyone with any information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Bloomfield Township School Resource Officer at 248-433-7770.
